Johny is the name of the Irish landlord of this micropub. We had a good conversation with him and he told us about the various pub companies he'd worked for and how he was now happy to own and run his own pub free of tie. Situated in an area with a good choice of pubs and beers, Johny's has 4 cask ales. On our visit, these were Dancing Duck Dark Drake, Bradfield Farmer's Blonde, The Mad Brewer Away With The Fairies & Bass. Beavertown Neck Oil & SALT Jute were on keg. Real cider appears to have been discontinued.

The ground floor room has sufficient seating for most times of the day, but there is an upstairs room should it get busy, in addition to the Harold Harper Suite, which can be used for functions. Toilets are upstairs too.

Just one other customer came in during our visit. In fact, most of the Burslem pubs we visited were fairly quiet with the exception of the Bursley Ale House. Johny recommended an additional stop for us that I didn't initially have on my list. With some quick drinking, we did manage to fit it in. A really amiable chap, he even gave us a complimentary pork pie to take away. Just as well, as we never did manage to fit a meal in.

Well worth a visit if in Burslem.

A pleasant little place on the Square opposite The Bulls Head and The Duke William. 4 handpulls with a good variety of styles - pale, stout, bitter - on my visit. Friendly, comfortable and, I thought, just nice. Will visit again when in Burslem.

A shop conversion but with a real pub atmosphere, there is a side walkway to the bar that stretches across the back wall, while seating is all traditional wooden tables, chairs and stools. There is a small log burner to the side, while a flatscreen will show Sky Sports but at a low volume. The landlady both serves and keeps a matronly eye on proceedings ,which is old school but reassuring.
The 4 handpumps were drawing Sarah Hughes Surprise,Staffordshire Black Grouse Stout,Dancing Duck Ay Up and a very decent Cross Bay Zenith IPA.Great range of styles and strengths show a knowlegeable approach to ale selection marking this out as another pub that must be visited on a crawl, and is comfortable enough for a session.Virtually opposite the Bulls Head and a great triple header along with Hog Noggins.
